Bitmine has expanded its Ethereum staking position once again. According to on-chain tracker Lookonchain, the firm staked an additional 98,352 ETH on April 24, a batch valued at roughly $229 million in the report. That pushed Bitmine’s cumulative staked holdings to 3,587,821 ETH, worth about $8.35 billion, extending its lead as the largest institutional ether staking operation currently on record.
Staking activity accelerated over the past 48 hours
The latest transaction marks Bitmine’s third major staking move disclosed this week. In the previous 48 hours, the company had already staked 93,600 ETH and 61,232 ETH in two separate transactions. Combined with the newest batch, Bitmine has deployed more than 250,000 ETH into staking in just two days, signaling a much faster conversion pace rather than a gradual rollout.
Based on the figures cited in the article, 72.1% of Bitmine’s total ether holdings are now staked, up from 68.24% earlier in the week when its staked balance stood at 3,395,869 ETH. The shift suggests the company is becoming more aggressive in turning held ETH into yield-generating validator positions while contributing to Ethereum’s proof-of-stake security model.
A strategy tied to the “Alchemy of 5%”
Bitmine’s expansion is closely linked to a thesis publicly described by Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee as the “Alchemy of 5%.” The idea centers on accumulating 5% of all ether ever issued. The report says Bitmine currently holds around 4.97 million ETH in total, representing about 4.12% of Ethereum’s supply, putting the company within reach of that longer-term objective.
The staked portion is managed through MAVAN, or Made in America Validator Network, Bitmine’s institutional staking platform built to provide outside participants with access to Ethereum’s proof-of-stake consensus layer. Since launching that infrastructure, Bitmine has maintained and expanded its position as the world’s largest ether staking entity, widening the gap with any institutional rival after each new staking batch.
Accumulation and deployment are happening in parallel
Bitmine is not only staking existing holdings but also continuing to acquire more ETH. Earlier in the week, the report noted that the firm separately accumulated 101,627 ETH worth about $233 million in a single purchase event. That indicates Bitmine is running two strategies at once: building a larger ether reserve and rapidly deploying that reserve into staking.
The company’s April uplisting to the New York Stock Exchange has also strengthened its institutional profile, creating a regulated equity route for shareholders seeking ETH exposure. With more than $8.35 billion in staked ether now on record and fresh purchases still being made, Bitmine is increasingly positioning itself as a major institutional vehicle for Ethereum yield and exposure.
