Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee said in a recent interview with Milk Road Show that tokenized assets and AI agent finance will be the two defining crypto themes over the next five years. In his view, Ethereum could become the base settlement layer for the global financial system, while ETH remains deeply undervalued relative to BTC. Lee said Ethereum may benefit from four catalysts during the rest of 2026: possible passage of the U.S. Clarity Act in September, the return of sidelined capital and over-the-counter short flows, renewed crypto allocation from Asia, and quarterly performance pressure pushing global institutional fund managers toward the best-performing digital assets. He added that the ETH/BTC ratio could revisit its historical high of 0.08. Even under a more conservative scenario, he said that if ETH/BTC recovers to 0.04 and Bitcoin rises to $150,000, ETH would imply a price of $6,000. Lee also said Bitcoin still has long-term upside, but argued that the bigger industry theme over the next five years will be a broad tokenization supercycle and AI agent finance.

BlockBeats reported on Aug. 31 that Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee said in a recent interview with Milk Road Show that tokenized assets and AI agent finance will be the core narratives in crypto over the next five years.

Lee said Ethereum could become the underlying settlement layer of the global financial system and argued that ETH is still significantly undervalued relative to BTC.

Four factors Lee said could support ETH

According to Lee, Ethereum could be driven by four catalysts during the rest of 2026:

  • the U.S. Clarity Act could pass in September;
  • over-the-counter short positioning and sidelined capital could return;
  • Asian capital could rebalance into crypto assets;
  • global institutional fund managers, under quarterly performance pressure, could chase the leading crypto assets.

His ETH/BTC and BTC price scenario

Lee said the ETH/BTC ratio could climb back to its historical high of 0.08. Even in a more conservative recovery to 0.04, if Bitcoin reaches $150,000, ETH would correspond to a price of $6,000.

He also said Bitcoin still has long-term upside, but added that the bigger crypto theme over the next five years will be a "full asset tokenization supercycle" and "AI agent finance."
