On April 28, 2026, TON Tech released Agentic Wallets, an open standard that allows AI agents on Telegram to hold and spend TON without per-transaction user approval. The non-custodial, revocable standard enables trading bots, DeFi agents, and payment automation in a 1-billion-user ecosystem.

On April 28, 2026, TON Tech officially launched Agentic Wallets, an open standard that grants artificial intelligence agents operating within Telegram the ability to hold and spend TON tokens without requiring user approval for every individual transaction. This breakthrough addresses a long-standing limitation: AI agents could research, recommend, and plan, but they lacked a self-contained mechanism to execute financial actions on-chain without either full private key access or step-by-step manual confirmation.

From Advisory to Execution

Before Agentic Wallets, AI agents on Telegram could only suggest actions—users had to manually execute trades or payments. The new standard changes that by providing each agent with a dedicated on-chain wallet funded directly by the user. The user retains full ownership through their main wallet, and the agent operates strictly within the assigned balance. Access can be revoked at any time, and no intermediary ever holds the funds.

The setup process is designed to be frictionless: a user asks their agent to create a wallet, funds it, and confirms the arrangement once. After that, the agent autonomously executes routine transactions without further user input. This strikes a balance between convenience and security—the user sets a spending cap, and the agent operates freely within that boundary.

Non-Custodial, Open-Source, and Built on TON

Agentic Wallets are fully non-custodial and open-source, built and maintained by TON Tech as part of The Open Platform. The standard integrates with existing TON infrastructure and requires no upgrades to existing TON wallets. It ships with MCP and CLI tools and is compatible with leading AI models and agent frameworks, with no vendor lock-in.

Andrew Grekov, Head of TON Tech, explained the significance: “Agents on Telegram can not only communicate, but transact—making payments and interacting with onchain services on behalf of users, without ever touching their keys.”

Telegram’s 1-Billion-User Distribution Channel

Telegram provides a natural launchpad for Agentic Wallets. Its bot infrastructure and bot-to-bot communication already foster autonomous agent interactions across a base of over one billion users. Agentic Wallets extend what those agents can do inside that environment: they can now make payments directly within Telegram’s chat interface, enabling a new wave of in-chat financial services.

For developers, the standard unlocks applications that were difficult to build cleanly before:

  • Trading bots can execute buy/sell orders within predefined budgets.
  • DeFi agents handle staking and portfolio management inside isolated wallets.
  • Payment automation for subscriptions and API usage becomes viable without routing funds through a custodian.

Individual users can run multiple agents simultaneously, each with its own wallet and spending limit, enabling budget-capped automation for recurring payments and other tasks.

A Step Toward Autonomous Digital Stewards

The launch of Agentic Wallets signals a broader trend: AI agents evolving from information advisors to autonomous digital stewards capable of executing real-world financial transactions. By combining Telegram’s massive user base with TON’s blockchain infrastructure, TON Tech aims to make decentralized finance accessible through a familiar chat interface. The standard is open for immediate developer use, with full documentation available in the official TON Tech repository.
