TON Tech (@TONTechHQ), the official technical team of TON, announced on X the launch of Agentic Wallets, a new open, self-custodial wallet standard designed for AI agents. The standard enables AI agents to independently manage funds and send transactions on the TON network without requiring users to manually approve each action.
How It Works: User Controls Funds, AI Spends Within Limits
Agentic Wallets operate in a fully decentralized manner with no intermediaries. Users let an AI agent create a separate on-chain wallet and fund it manually. The user's main wallet retains full ownership of the agent wallet. The AI agent can only execute transactions within pre-set limits and permissions defined by the user. The user retains ultimate control, able to withdraw funds from the agent wallet at any time or revoke the AI agent's permissions unilaterally. This solves the security and friction issues that previously plagued AI-managed crypto assets.
Developer Friendly: Compatible with Existing TON Wallets, Model-Agnostic
Agentic Wallets are compatible with existing TON wallet infrastructure, meaning current wallet apps need no mandatory upgrades to support them. The architecture is vendor-agnostic, allowing developers to implement independently and integrate with major AI models and agent frameworks. TON Tech also provides MCP (Model Context Protocol) and CLI tools to speed up development and workflow management for AI agents.
Telegram Ecosystem Shift: Chatbots Evolve into Financial Assistants
For Telegram, which has over 900 million active users, Agentic Wallets mark a significant leap. By combining the standard with Telegram's native Bot API and Bot-to-Bot communication, Telegram bots will transform: future AI agents won't just answer questions in chat—they'll directly execute payments and on-chain financial operations within the Telegram interface. Developers can already deploy AI agents using the Agentic Wallets standard. As adoption grows, the marriage of AI automation and Web3 permissionless payments is expected to drive explosive growth of "super assistants" on Telegram.
