The combined market value of the 50 largest publicly listed companies holding Bitcoin dropped from $150 billion in July 2025 to $67 billion in August 2026, a decline of roughly $83 billion, according to a Techub report citing CryptoBriefing. Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, accounted for about $79 billion of that loss on its own, making up nearly all of the total decline. The data also showed broad weakness across the group. Among the 50 companies, 43, or 86%, are now trading below the share-price levels seen before they adopted their Bitcoin-focused strategy. In addition, 35 companies have seen their market capitalization cut in half. The shift has also reached balance-sheet activity. In July 2026, the group became net sellers of Bitcoin for the first time, unloading 2,500 BTC on a net basis during the month. The earlier model of issuing securities to fund Bitcoin purchases and lift valuations is now reversing, the report said.

According to Techub, citing CryptoBriefing, the combined market value of the 50 biggest publicly listed companies holding Bitcoin sank from $150 billion in July 2025 to $67 billion in August 2026. That is a drop of roughly $83 billion.

Strategy, the company once known as MicroStrategy, made up about $79 billion of that decline on its own. Almost the whole loss. Just one company.

The data showed 43 of the 50 companies, or 86%, now trade below the share-price levels they had before moving to a Bitcoin strategy. And 35 of them have watched their market capitalization get cut in half.

In July 2026, the group turned into net sellers of Bitcoin for the first time, posting net sales of 2,500 BTC during the month. So the once-favored approach of issuing securities to raise money for Bitcoin purchases and lift valuations is now going into reverse.

The report was published by Techub and credited to CryptoBriefing.
