World Liberty Financial turned the UFC Freedom 250 event into a marketing launchpad for its USD1 stablecoin by funding fighter bonuses with the digital asset — resulting in a record total payout of approximately $1.65 million. The June 14 event, staged on the South Lawn of the White House, coincided with U.S. President Donald Trump's birthday.
As presenting sponsor, World Liberty Financial contributed $250,000 in USD1 to the Performance of the Night bonus pool, with each winner receiving $425,000. Crypto.com sponsored the Fight of the Night awards, paying winners $400,000 each. Combined, these incentives set the highest UFC bonus total ever.
The live broadcast placed USD1 in front of millions of viewers, marking the stablecoin's largest public appearance to date and linking it directly to a high-profile White House sporting event.
USD1 Grows to $5B Market Cap Across Four Chains
World Liberty Financial announced the sponsorship days before the fight. According to Todd Phillips, a crypto policy expert at the Klaros Group, receiving USD1 is economically equivalent to receiving U.S. dollars — but explicitly highlighting stablecoin payments acts as a powerful ad for the token.
Launched in March 2025, USD1 has grown to a market capitalization exceeding $5 billion. It operates on Ethereum, BNB Chain, TRON, and Solana, giving users access through multiple blockchain networks.
Congress Probes UAE Ownership Stake and $2B Binance Settlement
Meanwhile, lawmakers are scrutinizing World Liberty Financial's ownership structure. Reports show a United Arab Emirates firm linked to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan acquired a 49% stake in the company via a $500 million deal. Another Tahnoon-associated firm later used USD1 to settle a $2 billion investment involving Binance. These ties have triggered congressional inquiries into potential conflicts of interest and national security concerns.
World Liberty Financial was co-founded in 2024 by Trump, his sons, and members of Steve Witkoff's family. Financial disclosures indicate Trump's stake in the company is worth more than $50 million.
Crypto Venture Becomes Key Trump Family Asset
Recent reports suggest the Trump family's crypto businesses have generated billions in paper gains, with World Liberty Financial becoming one of its most significant wealth sources. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle dismissed conflict-of-interest concerns, stating Trump's assets remain in a trust managed by his children.
UFC Freedom 250 gave USD1 massive public exposure while keeping World Liberty Financial at the center of both political and regulatory debate.
