Odaily reported that U.S. President Donald Trump spoke on Wednesday after the close of the G7 summit held in France, defending the agreement reached between the United States and Iran. Trump said he did not want to see the war in the Middle East continue and create an economic disaster.
Speaking in the French lakeside resort of Evian-les-Bains, Trump said: “One of the things I least want to see is an economic disaster. If this conflict continues, that can absolutely happen.” His remarks presented the agreement as a step intended to prevent a wider economic collapse tied to the continuation of the conflict.
Trump also said he did not want to become another Herbert Hoover. Hoover was serving as U.S. president when the American stock market crashed in October 1929. That crash wiped out billions of dollars in wealth and eventually led to the economic crisis later known as the Great Depression, according to Jinshi.
