Trust Wallet has rolled out a joint verification process with Binance to speed up compensation for users affected by the browser extension v2.68 security incident. The company said the goal is to shorten ownership checks and move eligible claims through reimbursement more quickly.

The incident was limited to extension version 2.68

According to Trust Wallet, the issue began with the Chrome browser extension version 2.68. The company said that release was hit by a supply chain attack, which let attackers inject malicious code and drain funds from some desktop wallets. Trust Wallet added that the incident did not affect the mobile app or other extension versions.

After identifying the problem, Trust Wallet released version 2.69 as the fix and urged users to upgrade at once. It is still advising users to disable v2.68, install the updated version from the official Chrome Web Store, and confirm the version before accessing wallets again.

Eligible Binance.com users can verify ownership faster

To accelerate recovery for affected addresses, Trust Wallet is working with Binance on an expedited verification route. Under the plan, users may verify ownership through their Binance account if the affected funds had been transferred from their Binance account to the hacked platform before December 24, 2025.

This fast-track option applies only to Binance.com users. Accounts that qualify will be contacted individually by customer support through the same email thread used for the initial complaint. Users who do not meet the conditions will continue through the standard reimbursement process, which will take longer.

Trust Wallet says about $7 million was affected

Trust Wallet said approximately $7 million was impacted in the incident and that all affected addresses will be refunded. Its support team has already started reviewing submissions and is prioritizing claims.

Users must begin by submitting details through the platform’s official support form. Trust Wallet also warned users to ignore messages from unofficial sources and rely only on verified communication channels during the claims process.

Binance, which acquired Trust Wallet in 2018, is supporting reimbursement through its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU). The fund has been used before to cover losses tied to major security events.

TWT rose about 2% as the claims process moves ahead

As updates on the compensation process emerged, TWT gained around 2% in the last 24 hours. The current focus is on speeding up verification and reviewing submitted claims. For affected users, the immediate steps remain the same: stop using v2.68, upgrade to v2.69, and follow the official support channels for claim updates.
