According to Odaily, AI chip manufacturer TSMC rose 1.7% in premarket trading to $433.1. The move came as new information linked Apple’s next flagship chip, the A22 Pro, with TSMC’s advanced 1.4nm manufacturing process.

The report said Apple’s A22 Pro will use TSMC’s 1.4nm process and is expected to be introduced in 2028. It would be Apple’s first system-on-chip built with that process and would make its debut in the high-end iPhone lineup for 2028. The A22 Pro is described as Apple’s next-generation flagship chip, with the process node forming a key part of the product update.

TSMC previously disclosed that, compared with its 2nm process, the 1.4nm process can deliver about 15% to 16% higher performance under the same power conditions. If performance remains unchanged, power consumption can be reduced by about 27% to 30%. These figures provide the main data points cited in the report for evaluating the performance and efficiency changes of the 1.4nm process.
