U.S. inflation data released on Sept. 11 showed that August core CPI came in firmer on a monthly basis while continuing to cool on an annual basis. According to BlockBeats, seasonally adjusted core CPI rose 0.3% in August from the previous month, topping the market expectation of 0.2% and the prior reading of 0.2%. The figure marked the highest monthly increase since May this year. At the same time, unadjusted core CPI rose 2.4% from a year earlier, in line with market expectations and down from the previous 2.5% reading. The annual measure has now declined for three straight months and hit its lowest level since April 2021. The latest release pointed to a split picture in the underlying inflation trend, with month-over-month core inflation accelerating even as the year-over-year rate continued to ease.
