The United States Department of Justice has announced the results of a collaborative anti-fraud initiative codenamed “Disruption Week,” during which private sector participants froze over $3.8 million in cryptocurrency tied to fraudulent schemes. Companies involved in the effort included Coinbase, Meta, Google, Microsoft, SpaceX, and blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs.

As part of the operation, the partner organizations worked with law enforcement to identify and freeze assets across multiple scam-linked wallets. The intelligence gathered also led to the arrest of seven individuals in Thailand, and several fraudulent platforms have been referred to U.S. authorities for further investigation.

Data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation underscores the growing threat of crypto investment scams. In 2025, reported losses from such scams exceeded $7.2 billion, a 24% increase year-over-year, highlighting the intensifying challenge regulators and the industry face.
