A Bitcoin wallet linked to the U.S. government transferred 140.214 BTC to Coinbase Prime after four years of dormancy, according to on-chain analytics firm Lookonchain. The holdings were worth about $8.79 million at the time of publication.

Government-linked wallet becomes active again
BlockTempo reported that Lookonchain disclosed the transfer on July 13, 2026, Beijing time, saying a wallet associated with the U.S. government had deposited 140.214 BTC into Coinbase Prime after being inactive for four years.
Based on screenshots of Arkham transaction records cited in the report, the address begins with bc1qhr9t. The wallet moved out its entire 140.214 BTC balance to Coinbase Prime, an institutional trading and custody platform.
The same amount entered the wallet four years earlier
The report traced the wallet’s history and said its previous major inflow also took place four years ago. At that time, the address received the same 140.214 BTC, then valued at about $7.02 million.
Other than those two large movements, the wallet had only a very small recent test transfer of about 0.0000033 BTC.
Purpose of the transfer remains unclear
The move quickly drew discussion on X because the destination was Coinbase Prime. The report noted that the platform is often used by U.S. law enforcement agencies for custody and liquidation of seized assets, leading some users to question whether the government may be preparing to sell the Bitcoin.
At the same time, the report said 140 BTC is not large relative to the market’s overall daily trading volume. The exact purpose of the transfer has not been disclosed.
