Odaily reported that, according to a US official, Iran has informed Washington through an intermediary that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is satisfied with a proposed agreement. The remarks describe a preliminary arrangement between the two sides that is centered on setting up a framework for contact rather than resolving every dispute at once.

Preliminary agreement centers on de-escalation

The US official said the initial agreement focuses on reducing tensions and opening new channels for negotiations. More complex issues, including Iran’s nuclear program and sanctions, have been postponed for discussion in later stages. Under the official’s description, the arrangement would first address communication and de-escalation before moving to the more difficult subjects.

The official also stated that Iran would not receive any immediate economic benefits after signing a memorandum of understanding. Any financial support or sanctions exemptions would be conditional on Iran fulfilling its commitments. If Iran hands over highly enriched uranium or dismantles nuclear facilities, Washington would provide economic incentives in stages.
