Next week’s macro focus will fall on Friday’s U.S. nonfarm payrolls report, according to ChainCatcher. The release will include nonfarm payroll growth, the unemployment rate and average hourly earnings. ChainCatcher said the data is directly tied to the Federal Reserve’s rate path and will be an important labor-market reading ahead of the Fed’s October policy meeting.
Key data releases next week
In Beijing time, the U.S. September ADP employment report is due on Wednesday at 20:15, followed by the annual rate of the U.S. August core PCE price index at 20:30.
On Thursday at 20:30, the U.S. weekly initial jobless claims reading through Sept. 26 will be released. On Friday at 20:30, the market will get the U.S. September seasonally adjusted nonfarm payrolls figure and unemployment rate.
Central bank speakers on the schedule
On Thursday, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey is scheduled to speak at 16:00 Beijing time, and European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde is scheduled to speak at 21:30.
Fed officials will also have a busy public schedule starting early Wednesday. Austan Goolsbee, a 2027 Federal Open Market Committee voter and president of the Chicago Fed, and Alberto Musalem, a 2028 FOMC voter and president of the St. Louis Fed, are both set to speak. John Williams, a permanent FOMC voter and president of the New York Fed, will deliver a keynote speech at the University at Buffalo.
On Thursday, Fed Governor Lisa Cook, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari and Richmond Fed President Thomas Barkin will all speak. On Friday, Williams and Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan will also appear at public events.
U.S. earnings to watch
In U.S. equities, Micron is scheduled to release earnings after the close on Wednesday, while Nike will report its latest quarterly results on Thursday. ChainCatcher noted that the two companies are tied to memory chips and consumer demand, respectively.
