Crypto markets head into the week of July 27 with a dense calendar of macro releases, central bank decisions and industry-specific events that could shape digital-asset pricing. According to CoinDesk’s weekly preview, the Federal Reserve, Bank of England and Bank of Japan are all expected to leave rates unchanged, but traders are watching closely for any signal that higher energy prices could push policymakers closer to renewed tightening. CME FedWatch puts the odds of a U.S. rate hike at 33%, while prediction markets imply 19%, up from near zero earlier in the month. Thursday brings a heavier test with second-quarter U.S. GDP and June Personal Consumption Expenditures data. CoinDesk said a combination of firm growth and sticky inflation could strengthen the higher-for-longer rates trade through higher yields and a stronger dollar, while softer numbers could unwind that setup. On the crypto side, Polygon is set to deploy its Ithaca hard fork on mainnet, BitMEX will settle and delist 35 derivatives contracts, and FTX Recovery Trust is scheduled to begin its fifth creditor distribution, worth roughly $900 million. Earnings from Robinhood, Coinbase and Strategy are also due, alongside governance votes, token unlocks and industry conferences.

Interest rates and economic data are set to dominate crypto trading in the week starting July 27, with the Federal Reserve, Bank of England and Bank of Japan all expected to leave policy unchanged while markets assess whether higher energy prices are bringing another round of tightening back into view.

CoinDesk’s weekly preview said CME FedWatch is showing a 33% chance of a U.S. rate increase, while prediction markets are pricing the odds at 19%, up from near zero earlier in the month. CBS News, citing EY-Parthenon chief economist Gregory Daco, said September could become the first meaningful test of the Federal Reserve’s stance.

The more immediate test arrives on Thursday with second-quarter U.S. GDP and June Personal Consumption Expenditures data. CoinDesk said strong growth coupled with persistent inflation would reinforce expectations that rates stay higher for longer and could weigh on crypto through higher yields and a stronger dollar. Softer readings, by contrast, could unwind that trade.

All 70 economists in a Reuters poll expected the Bank of England to hold rates at 3.75%. The Bank of Japan is forecast to keep rates at 1% before potentially raising them again later this year.

Crypto events on the calendar

The digital-asset sector also faces several crypto-specific catalysts this week. BitMEX is set to settle 35 derivatives contracts early and delist them as it continues its wind-down. FTX Recovery Trust is due to begin roughly $900 million in creditor distributions. Earnings from Robinhood, Coinbase and Strategy are also expected to offer a fresh read on retail trading activity and digital-asset treasury companies.
