Utexo has secured $7.5 million to push a specific use case: native USDT transfers on the Bitcoin network. The company says it was created to solve a longstanding problem in crypto infrastructure, where Bitcoin offers strong security and durability but stablecoin payment rails on the chain have remained difficult to deploy at production scale.
Its approach is to package the technical complexity into a single API. Utexo says payment operators can integrate Bitcoin-based USDT transfers without rebuilding their current custody or compliance setups. The source article notes that technologies such as the Lightning Network and RGB had already made Bitcoin payments technically possible, yet complexity kept them from broader adoption. Utexo is positioning its product as a way around that bottleneck.
A single integration for payment operators
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said Bitcoin remains central to the company’s long-term thinking around USDT. He said market cycles may change, but demand for an open and resilient payment framework does not, and described Utexo’s model as a meaningful boost to Bitcoin’s ability to support real-world US dollar transactions.
Co-founder Chris Hutchinson said the platform is built to make USDT transfers fast, discreet, and cost-predictable. After one API integration, partners can route USDT across Bitcoin’s open network with limited friction, according to Hutchinson. The company links that setup to easier cross-platform stablecoin movement and to new capacity for high-volume transfers.
Privacy features and sub-second transfer claims
Co-founder Viktor Ihnatiuk said the infrastructure supports free USDT transfers to wallets and is also meant to encourage wider use of Bitcoin-linked stablecoins. In the company’s framing, lower costs and fewer technical barriers could make stablecoin usage more reachable for both everyday crypto users and businesses.
Utexo says its system provides predictable fees and privacy-focused transfer mechanics for each payment. Transactions are conducted in USDT, rely on Bitcoin’s security model, and typically settle in under one second. The company also says all transfer data is encrypted, keeping sender and recipient information confidential, a contrast with networks where transaction flows are often publicly visible and traceable.
Exchanges, wallets, and institutions are the core targets
The platform is aimed at crypto exchanges, wallet providers, payment service companies, and institutions handling large volumes of USDT. Rather than leaning on speculative layer-2 narratives, Utexo says it wants to move existing USDT activity onto Bitcoin in a native way, with more stable transaction conditions, clearer cost expectations, and stronger security at the network level.
