VanEck’s latest 2026 outlook presents a cautious short-term view on Bitcoin while keeping its long-term bullish thesis intact. The firm said Bitcoin broke away from its traditional four-year cycle in 2025, creating mixed signals for investors, but that shift has not changed its broader positive view on the asset.
VanEck keeps its long-range thesis after the 2025 cycle disruption
According to the report, the patterns that have historically shaped Bitcoin’s price action were disrupted over the past year, adding uncertainty to the near-term picture. That has made the immediate outlook less clear. Even so, VanEck still sees structural growth and continued crypto adoption as support for Bitcoin over a longer investment horizon.
Bitcoin remains a central part of VanEck’s portfolio thinking for 2026. While assets such as AI and gold are also attracting attention, the firm still treats Bitcoin as a core allocation theme, pointing to ongoing institutional interest and broader global adoption.
Short-term volatility is framed as an opportunity, but with caution
VanEck also argues that Bitcoin’s current mix of signals could open a window for cautious investors. In its view, near-term price swings do not break the long-term case. Instead, they may offer entry points at more attractive levels for investors willing to tolerate volatility.
The tone of the outlook remains measured. Bitcoin may continue to move unevenly in the short run, and VanEck does not present an aggressive call here; the emphasis is on maintaining a medium- to long-term perspective as Bitcoin’s role in the global financial system expands.
Bitcoin trades at $91,851 as technical indicators point to resistance
The chart cited in the report shows Bitcoin trading at $91,851, up 0.72% on the day. Bollinger Bands suggest the asset is nearing the top of its recent range, with price sitting just below the upper band at $91,852. That places Bitcoin near a clear short-term resistance zone.
Momentum readings remain neutral. The Relative Strength Index, or RSI, stands at 56.78, indicating the market is neither overbought nor oversold, which fits VanEck’s restrained near-term stance. At the same time, the 20-day simple moving average sits near the lower Bollinger Band at $89,931. If upward momentum weakens, the report says Bitcoin could drift back toward that level in the coming days.
Taken together, these indicators point more to consolidation than to a decisive trend break. Short-term pullbacks remain possible, but the report does not identify any major technical signal suggesting a broader bearish turn.
