Velodrome, a decentralized exchange in the Optimism ecosystem, is set to merge with Base-based DEX Aerodrome and relaunch as Aero on Oct. 21. The initial rollout will take place on OP Mainnet and Ink, and both chains will continue VELO emissions and voting until launch. Other supported chains will gradually lose token emissions and cross-chain support as the transition moves forward. The project also laid out a series of deadlines for users. All xVELO held across chains must be bridged back to OP Mainnet by Oct. 15. Assets on Lisk must be withdrawn by Oct. 31, after which they cannot be recovered. For staked LP positions outside OP Mainnet and Ink, users are expected to unstake once Gauges are disabled. Networks where Gauges have been shut down or are scheduled to shut down include Celo, Fraxtal, Soneium, Unichain, Superseed, Metal, Mode, Swell, and Lisk. Among them, Celo, Fraxtal, Soneium, and Unichain are still expected to keep trading and liquidity provision after Aero goes live, but they will no longer offer Gauges, voting, or token emissions. The team also said Superseed, Metal, and Mode are no longer being actively maintained, while Swell has already gone offline.
