Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin highlighted fresh progress from client developer Nethermind, saying the team continues to do strong work to make Ethereum more efficient and faster. The update came as Nethermind core developer Ben Adams said the project’s Beacon Chain plugin has completed synchronization and is ready for the Glamsterdam fork on Sepolia. Adams also said that running Ethereum’s execution layer, or EL, and consensus layer, or CL, as a single application does not appear to introduce meaningful additional memory overhead. The timeline matches an earlier confirmation from the Ethereum Foundation, which said Glamsterdam will be activated on Sepolia on Oct. 6. Nethermind 2.1.0 already supports the upgrade, according to the same confirmation.
