Wanchain’s cross-chain bridge was hit by an exploit on Monday, with 290 million NIGHT tokens moved out, according to Odaily. The incident sent NIGHT down about 43% at one point, pushing the token to an all-time low before it recovered part of the loss. Over the following 24 hours, NIGHT rebounded nearly 19%.
Charles Hoskinson said the issue stemmed from a legacy bridge architecture built by a third party. He said AI-driven vulnerability discovery is speeding up the exposure of flaws across software systems, not just in crypto. Hoskinson added that zero-knowledge systems such as Midnight offer a longer-term answer by replacing trust in bridge operators and multisig arrangements with cryptographic proofs.
