According to the event announcement, the conference is expected to draw more than 15,000 attendees and will center on how Web3, digital assets, and traditional finance are intersecting in Japan under a changing regulatory framework.
The two-day event will run under the theme “Beyond the Screen, Connecting the Nodes.” Organizers said the program will include keynote speeches, panel discussions, exhibitions, and curated networking sessions. The stated goal is to create real-world connections between industry leaders, investors, and policymakers. Last year’s edition brought in more than 14,000 participants and generated over 170 side events across Tokyo.
Regulatory shift in Japan moves to the center of discussion
The release describes 2026 as a key moment for Japan’s technology and financial sectors. It points to recent regulatory progress, including the classification of crypto assets as financial instruments, as a sign that the market environment is becoming more mature. WebX CEO Ryo Sakai said Japan has taken a pragmatic and steady approach to digital transformation in recent years and is now entering a phase of clearer regulation. In his view, that could open more room for institutional participation and widen access to growth capital. He also said WebX is evolving from a conference into a platform where industry participants, policymakers, and investors can meet in one place.
Sakai added that as the ecosystem matures, the conversation is moving away from early experimentation and toward long-term infrastructure and market stability. Topics such as infrastructure buildout, stronger governance, and sustainable market growth are expected to sit at the center of the 2026 agenda.
Speaker lineup spans exchanges, asset management, payments, and policy
The announced speaker list includes Uniswap Labs founder and CEO Hayden Adams, Bitwise Asset Management executive team member, general counsel, and chief compliance officer Katherine Dowling, Nansen CEO Alex Svanevik, Bitmine chairman Tom Lee, Animoca Brands co-founder and executive chairman Yat Siu, and Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority ministerial chairman Bilal Bin Saqib.
