WeChat Pay has introduced an AI-dedicated card designed as a separate small wallet isolated from the user’s main wallet. The feature is being tested in AI Agent scenarios such as Workbuddy, where users can initiate purchases through related services as part of an “AI Shopping” flow.
The disclosed testing experience shows that the AI-dedicated card does not allow an AI Agent to complete every payment step independently. After a purchase is initiated in a supported scenario, each payment still requires manual confirmation from the user. The separation from the main wallet remains part of the product setup, while the final payment action stays under user control.
At this stage, the card is mainly suited to standardized digital services, including paid content, API calls and subscription services. It has not yet been able to steadily complete end-to-end fulfillment for more complex daily-life services, such as ordering milk tea. Its current use case is therefore concentrated on digital consumption flows with clearer rules and standardized delivery.
