Wintermute said Bitcoin is moving closer to the $59,000 level it sees as a critical support zone, while options pricing suggests relatively limited price movement over the next 24 hours. Based on the firm’s one-day straddle indicator, Bitcoin is expected to trade between $61,242 and $63,563, while Ether’s projected range sits at $1,606 to $1,694. That implies expected volatility of about 1.9% for Bitcoin and 2.7% for Ether.
Options market points to a narrower short-term band
The trading firm said both Bitcoin and Ether are approaching the lower edge of their recent ranges. In its view, broader market direction is still being shaped by the Federal Reserve’s tight policy stance and by geopolitical developments. For now, the options market is not pricing in a sharp directional break over the coming day.
Wintermute also said the market’s footing appears weaker than before. Correlation across tokens has been rising, which suggests price action is being driven more by macro market trends than by project-level fundamentals. At the same time, liquidity is thinning as summer approaches, and spot Bitcoin ETFs have not seen fresh institutional demand strong enough to offset that backdrop.
$59,000 becomes the main level to watch
If selling pressure builds again, Wintermute said $59,000 is the level market participants are likely to watch most closely. The firm described that area as both the bear market low and a pivotal support threshold. A renewed downside move would put focus on whether Bitcoin retests that mark.
The setup is straightforward. Short-term volatility has narrowed, but prices are already leaning toward the lower end of the recent range.
Three catalysts remain in focus this week
Wintermute highlighted three factors that could drive prices through the rest of the week: the durability of the peace deal under discussion between the US and Iran, the Federal Reserve’s closely watched PCE inflation data due Thursday, and the quarterly options expiry at the end of the month.
PCE, or the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, is one of the key US inflation gauges tracked by the Fed. Wintermute said the quarterly expiry could magnify market swings as large positions are rolled or closed. In a low-liquidity market, that effect could become more pronounced if it lands alongside major economic data and geopolitical headlines heading into the weekend.
