WLFI has proposed a governance staking model that requires holders to lock tokens for 180 days before voting. The plan also links incentives to the USD1 ecosystem and offers about 2% annual rewards for active voters.

WLFI is moving to tie governance power directly to token staking. In an official post on X, the team said the community is being asked to vote on a staking system for holders. The proposal, first posted on the forum in late February, would require holders to stake unlocked WorldLibertyFinancialIndex tokens for at least 180 days before they can vote.

Voting rights would depend on locked tokens

The proposal is built around a simple idea: governance should stay with participants willing to commit capital for a longer period, rather than short-term traders or speculators. WorldLibertyFinancialIndex is presented by the project as the main token for guiding platform direction, upgrades, and ecosystem growth. Information on the official site also points to payments, cross-chain activity, and the USD1 stablecoin as core parts of the ecosystem.

If adopted, the model would push WLFI utility away from passive holding and toward active governance. Holding the token would no longer be only about exposure. It would also determine who gets to influence protocol decisions and how that influence is earned.

Active voters may receive about 2% yearly rewards

The staking design also includes incentives. Public reporting on the proposal said users who stake and take part in at least two governance decisions during the lock period could receive about 2% annual rewards, funded by the project treasury. Reports also described Node and Super Node tiers, where larger lockups would unlock deeper ecosystem access and added benefits.

That structure gives the proposal a broader role than a basic governance update. WLFI is trying to combine lockups, voting, and rewards in one system, while tying the incentive layer to the expansion of the USD1 ecosystem.

Attention has shifted from the proposal to execution

Short-term market reaction remains unclear. An earlier draft referenced a token price near $0.1181 and a daily gain, while later market pages showed trading closer to $0.097 to $0.100, with rapid day-to-day changes. Based on the available material, the price picture should be treated cautiously.

By mid-March, several reports said the community had approved the staking plan, with one report putting support at 99.12%. Those reports also said the final model kept the 180-day staking requirement and the tiered access structure. At this stage, the main question for the market is no longer whether the plan can pass a vote, but whether it can raise participation, support USD1 usage, and build a more committed user base around the platform.
