WuBlockchain’s daily crypto roundup brought together five separate developments spanning macro data, Bitcoin ownership, market structure, US politics and African regulation. In the US, initial jobless claims for the week ended July 11 came in at 208,000, the lowest reading since the week of May 2, 2026. A separate ranking of Bitcoin holders showed Satoshi Nakamoto at the top with about 1.096 million BTC, valued at roughly $71 billion, while Coinbase, Strategy, BlackRock and Binance followed among major entities. The US government was listed with about 325,000 BTC, mainly from asset seizures, and the two largest single wallet addresses were both Binance cold wallets. CoinGecko’s Q2 2026 report said the total crypto market cap fell 12.6% to $2.1 trillion by the end of June, while stablecoin market value slipped 1.6% to $305.1 billion. Spot trading volume on centralized exchanges dropped 27.9% to $1.95 trillion, but perpetual futures volume showed a smaller 10.0% decline to $12.7 trillion. On the policy side, the US Senate unanimously approved a non-binding resolution saying FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried should not receive a presidential pardon or sentence reduction under any circumstances. In Tanzania, central bank governor Emmanuel Tutuba said the country is finalizing a legal and regulatory framework for virtual assets, cryptocurrencies and stablecoins, with attention on investor protection, money laundering, terrorist financing and financial stability risks.

US weekly initial jobless claims fall to 208,000

Initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ended July 11 came in at 208,000. WuBlockchain said that was the lowest level since the week of May 2, 2026.

Bitcoin holder ranking puts Satoshi first, Coinbase next among entities

By entity, Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, holds about 1.096 million BTC, valued at roughly $71 billion, making Satoshi the largest Bitcoin-holding entity in the ranking cited by WuBlockchain.

Excluding Satoshi, Coinbase ranked first with about 981,000 BTC. Strategy held about 844,000 BTC, BlackRock held about 732,000 BTC, and Binance held about 675,000 BTC. The US government was listed with about 325,000 BTC, mainly from asset seizures.

By single wallet address, the top two spots were both Binance cold wallets, holding about 249,000 BTC and 181,000 BTC respectively.

CoinGecko says total crypto market cap dropped 12.6% in Q2 2026

CoinGecko’s Q2 2026 report showed that total cryptocurrency market capitalization fell 12.6% to $2.1 trillion by the end of June.

Stablecoin market capitalization fell 1.6% to $305.1 billion, the first decline since Q3 2023. Nominal trading volume in prediction markets rose 48.7% quarter over quarter, reaching $113.8 billion in Q2 2026.

Spot trading volume on centralized exchanges fell 27.9% to $1.95 trillion. May recorded a monthly low of $620 billion, followed by a mild rebound to $695 billion in June.

Perpetual futures trading on centralized exchanges proved more resilient. Q2 volume reached $12.7 trillion, down 10.0% from the previous quarter. Even with broader market weakness, monthly perpetual futures volume stayed above $4 trillion.

US Senate unanimously opposes clemency for Sam Bankman-Fried

The US Senate unanimously passed a non-binding resolution stating that FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, or SBF, should not receive a presidential pardon or a sentence reduction “under any circumstances.” The measure cleared the chamber by unanimous consent, with no senator raising an objection.

SBF was previously convicted on seven counts tied to the collapse of FTX and is expected to be released no earlier than around 2044. Before the resolution, he had sought clemency. WuBlockchain also noted that US President Donald Trump had already pardoned crypto figures including Changpeng Zhao and Ross Ulbricht.

Tanzania central bank moves toward crypto and stablecoin rules

Emmanuel Tutuba, governor of the Bank of Tanzania, said the central bank is completing a legal and regulatory framework covering virtual assets, cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. The stated aim is to strengthen oversight of the sector and protect investors.

Tutuba said participation from younger local investors has been rising, and the central bank has received multiple complaints tied to losses in crypto trading. The new framework will also focus on money laundering, terrorist financing and risks to financial stability.
