U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, one of the main drafters of the CLARITY Act, said on Oct. 2 that Wyoming has chartered the first digital asset banks in the United States and established a legal framework around them. Lummis also said Wyoming’s banking division has reached a cooperation arrangement with the New York State Department of Financial Services. Under that arrangement, entities engaged in digital asset-related business will face a simplified chartering process and joint supervision. The statement points to Wyoming’s continued push to build state-level rules for digital asset businesses while coordinating oversight with New York regulators.
