At GWDC 2026 Korea, XERA Ai founder and CEO Jason Wong said many Web3 projects still fail to reach ordinary users even when they launch a token or a blockchain and claim to have practical use cases. Speaking during a panel discussion, Wong said demand matters most and argued that the eventual winners will be the teams that can create real demand rather than simply shipping infrastructure. He also described the current AI product mix as heavily tilted toward Web2, saying most offerings are roughly 80% Web2 and 20% Web3. In his view, Web3 still lacks a large enough user base and sufficient capital to support a broad wave of strong AI-native products. Wong said a larger number of high-quality products will appear only after those conditions improve. The remarks were made at GWDC 2026 Korea, held on Sept. 29-30, 2026 at aT Center in Seoul, South Korea. The event was hosted by Web3Labs and co-organized by Techub News, HypaiLabs, and TokenPost.

Jason Wong says demand matters more than token launches

During a panel discussion, XERA Ai founder and CEO Jason Wong said many projects simply issue a token or launch a chain and then claim to have utility, while ordinary users still have little reason to use them. Wong said demand is the key factor, and the winners will be those that can create demand.

Most AI products are still mostly Web2

Wong also said current AI products are largely structured as 80% Web2 and 20% Web3. He said Web3 still does not have a large enough user base or enough capital, and added that a large number of strong products will emerge only when those conditions are in place.
