This is not the first technical challenge for XRPL. In November 2024, a node crash caused a brief instability. More recently, the XRP Ledger Foundation expanded its Unique Node List (UNL) to further decentralize the validator set. Critics, however, argue that a larger UNL may increase coordination complexity, potentially leading to more frequent network drifts. Despite these concerns, XRPL’s ability to self-recover within an hour demonstrates resilience.
Following the news, XRP’s price dipped 2.1% to around $2.85 before stabilizing. The market reaction was muted, reflecting confidence in the network’s ultimate recovery. Developers and community members called for improved validator communication protocols to minimize the chance of similar drift events in the future.
