XRP price jumped more than 4.6% in the last check on January 21, reaching $1.97 as investors bought the recent dip. The move followed Ripple Labs' partnership with DXC Technology, an NYSE-listed company valued at over $2.6 billion. The broader crypto market also rebounded, with Bitcoin edging up to $89,000.
Ripple & DXC: Banks Get Digital Asset Custody and Payment Integration
Ripple Labs announced it partnered with DXC Technology, which provides software and services to thousands of companies globally. The partnership enables banks to adopt digital asset custody and payment capabilities at enterprise scale. DXC's Hogan core banking platform powers over 300 million deposit accounts and more than $5 trillion in deposits. Financial institutions and fintechs can now access programmable payments, tokenization, custody, and digital asset transfer without disrupting their core banking systems. Joanie Xie, Managing Director at Ripple, said: "Our partnership with DXC brings digital asset custody, RLUSD, and payments directly into the core banking environments that institutions already trust. Together, we're enabling banks to deliver secure, compliant digital asset use cases at enterprise scale without disruption."
On the same day, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse joined a panel on tokenization at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He noted that trillions of dollars in assets will be brought on-chain via quality blockchains like XRP Ledger and Solana. Ripple has already become a major player in tokenization: its stablecoin RLUSD holds over $1.3 billion in assets, and XRP Ledger has accumulated over $400 million.
Dead-Cat Bounce Risk: ETF Outflows and Bearish Technicals
Despite the positive news, XRP risks resuming its downtrend. The rebound could be a dead-cat bounce—a brief recovery in a freefalling asset before the decline continues. Additionally, spot XRP ETFs saw their largest single-day outflow on Tuesday, losing over $53 million in assets.
On the 12-hour chart, XRP has retreated from its year-to-date high of $2.4162 and fallen below the 50-day and 100-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMA) and the Supertrend indicator. The price also moved below the Major S&R Pivot Point of the Murrey Math Lines tool. The most likely scenario is continued downside toward the key support at $1.7660, the lowest level on December 19. That level aligns with the Strong, Pivot, and Reverse levels of Murrey Math Lines. A break below would open the door to further decline to the Ultimate Support at $1.5625.
