Wallet 0x9ee came close to a roughly $34 million liquidation after XRP slid toward the critical $1.66 area. The trader, known for taking aggressive leveraged bets, survived the move for now, but the account has absorbed heavy unrealized losses.
According to the source material, the whale had previously been sitting on $61 million in unrealized profit. That figure has now flipped into a loss as the market sold off, leaving the account down about $13.46 million. The same trader had drawn attention before for a publicized 3x short on ASTER after an endorsement tied to former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao.
ETH trade moves close to liquidation
The whale’s Ethereum position is also under intense pressure. The account bought 12,523 ETH at an average entry of $3,190.28, putting more than $34 million into the trade. With ETH falling to $2,723.5, the position moved near its liquidation level of $2,632. The unrealized loss on that leg stands at about $5.84 million, while funding costs have added another $3.33 million.
XRP holding hovers near the $1.666 threshold
The XRP side of the trade includes 14.8 million XRP acquired at $2.29. The report says XRP fell from $1.88 to $1.72, bringing the position dangerously close to its $1.666 liquidation point. Unrealized losses on XRP are now around $8.13 million, with funding costs draining an additional $1.51 million.
Partial position cuts bought time
The account avoided a full liquidation by partially liquidating both the XRP and ETH positions, reducing some of the immediate margin stress. The pressure has not gone away. The account is now fully locked at $2.4 million with no free collateral left, its return on equity has fallen to -287.87%, and leverage remains extremely high at 24.58x.
XRP is still trading close to the liquidation zone, and the ETH trade remains vulnerable as well. What 0x9ee does next—adding risk in search of a reversal or cutting the positions—will decide how this highly leveraged bet ends.
