Yi Lihua, founder of Liquid Capital, reflects on nearly a decade in crypto since late 2015, stressing that choosing the right direction matters more than individual effort. He identifies three categories more likely to achieve lasting results: HODLing BTC/ETH/BNB (mining, stacking, pools), participating in trading infrastructure (quantitative arbitrage, exchanges, stablecoins), and projects/market makers who issue and control assets. Traders and derivatives players, he says, mostly fail—high risk, low compounding returns, like daily hunters.

According to ChainCatcher, Yi Lihua, founder of Liquid Capital, shared what he has seen since getting into the crypto industry in late 2015. His point was blunt: personal effort matters, but picking the right direction matters just as much.

Yi broke out three groups he thinks have a better shot at long-term success in crypto. First: HODLers of BTC, ETH, and BNB, including miners, coin stackers, and mining pools. Simple idea. The compounding effect builds over time. Second are the people building trading infrastructure: quantitative arbitrage, exchanges, and stablecoins. Third are project teams and market makers, the ones who create and control assets.

By contrast, Yi said most investors and futures/options traders lose more often than they win. He compared that model to hunters who have to head out every day to find food—high risk, low returns, and barely any compounding effect.
