Techub News reported that GWDC 2026 Korea will be held on Sept. 29-30, 2026, at the aT Center in Seoul, South Korea. The event is hosted by Web3Labs, with Techub News, HypaiLabs, and TokenPost serving as co-hosts.
Yoon Suk-hun frames the hackathon as more than a technical contest
In his welcome speech, Asian Economic Development Committee Chairman Yoon Suk-hun said the hackathon is not simply a competition to compare technical strength. He described it as a setting to discover young talent in the AI era who have practical skills and can connect closely with the startup ecosystem.
Yoon said the event gives university students a chance to move beyond theory-centered campus learning, define real problems faced by users on site, and build products within a limited period that can be applied in real life.
Focus on cross-disciplinary teamwork and real-world problem solving
He said the most important element is integrated collaboration, with team members from different professional backgrounds — including developers, designers, and planners — working together through fast communication and cooperation.
Yoon added that this experience can serve as a bridge for participants between future employment and entrepreneurship. He also said he hopes the hackathon can grow into a community linking university students around the world to discuss shared human challenges such as climate change.
Organizers plan post-event links to accelerators and university support systems
Yoon said the organizers do not want ideas to stop at a one-off event. He said they plan to build a path that turns ideas into actual products by connecting participating projects after the competition with accelerator programs at global companies and with university startup support systems over the long term.
According to his remarks, the goal is to help ideas created at the event move toward market launch and commercialization.
