Zero Gravity Labs (0G Labs) has announced it has secured $290 million in financing to support the development of what it claims will be the world's first decentralized artificial intelligence operating system. The news, shared exclusively with Bitcoin.com News, marks one of the largest funding rounds in the decentralized AI infrastructure space.
Funding Breakdown: Seed Rounds and Foundation Commitment
0G Labs revealed that it raised $40 million in seed funding from multiple venture capital firms, adding to a prior $35 million pre-seed round from earlier this year. In addition, the 0G Foundation, a separate entity overseeing long-term governance for the 0G Protocol, received a $250 million commitment in the form of a “liquid line,” enabling access to liquid digital assets held on exchanges at over-the-counter rates. Combined, the total funding for 0G's decentralized AI project reaches $325 million.
Notable Investors
Investors in the funding rounds include prominent names in blockchain and tech sectors: Hack VC, Delphi Digital, OKX Ventures, Samsung Next, Bankless Ventures, and Animoca Brands. Individual participants include Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal and New World Development CEO Adrian Cheng. Michael Heinrich, CEO of 0G Labs, stated that the wide array of supporters underscores strong backing for decentralization in artificial intelligence.
Technology Spotlight: dAIOS
The proposed decentralized AI operating system, named dAIOS, features decentralized data processing and storage at speeds up to 50 gigabytes per second. This high-throughput system is designed to support AI processing directly on blockchain networks without relying on off-chain data handling — a feature touted as a unique advantage by 0G's developers. The 0G Foundation also plans to foster a developer community aligned with its decentralization ethos, with partnerships aimed at strengthening R&D in decentralized AI solutions.
Industry Context and Vision
According to Heinrich, the push toward a decentralized AI system aims to address existing concerns over the centralization of AI technologies, such as control and transparency issues. “With dAIOS, we're building an open and decentralized AI Operating System that ensures security, transparency, and accessibility. This funding will allow us to accelerate our mission,” he said. The project intends to launch a testnet within the next 12 months and attract more developers to join the ecosystem. This funding also signals a shift in capital from centralized AI to decentralized AI infrastructure, injecting new momentum into the convergence of Web3 and AI.
