Tether CEO confirms company holds about 70% of Adecoagro
Tether Chief Executive Officer Paolo Ardoino said on X that the company now holds about 70% of shares in agricultural business Adecoagro through a tender offer. The confirmation ties Tether more closely to a company whose operations span sugarcane, rice, dairy and renewable power in South America. Adecoagro, listed under the ticker AGRO, has more than 14,500 dairy cows and runs over 230 megawatts of renewable energy generation capacity in the region. The two companies had already signed a memorandum of understanding on Bitcoin mining in September 2025. Under that arrangement, excess electricity from Adecoagro could be directed to Bitcoin mining instead of being sold into the spot market, which the report described as volatile. Tether is using its own open-source mining software to directly manage mining site operations. Following the development, AGRO shares closed up 5.96% on Monday, giving the company a valuation close to $1.55 billion. The item was cited by BeInCrypto and carried by Techub News.
