ASPEED Technology said on Sept. 14 in a filing to Taiwan’s Market Observation Post System that its board had approved a capacity procurement agreement with ASE Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The contract will run for two years, from Jan. 1, 2027 through Dec. 31, 2028. The filing said the counterparty has no related-party relationship with ASPEED, while the contract value was not disclosed. According to the announcement, the agreement was signed to secure a stable supply of capacity. ASPEED said restrictions, commitments and other key terms will be handled in accordance with the contract. In the section on financial and business impact, the company said the deal is expected to stabilize capacity sourcing and have a positive effect on future financial and business development. It also said the arrangement was made to meet operational growth needs. The filing did not disclose the amount of the transaction, nor did it specify the type or volume of capacity being purchased. The fact date was listed as Sept. 14, with the decision approved by the board. The filing was submitted by senior manager Wu Li-li. ASPEED is a supplier of server baseboard management controller, or BMC, chips and operates under a fabless model, relying on external partners for packaging and testing.
