Politico: EU officials to discuss AI rules in Brussels on Thursday

Government officials from European Union member states are set to meet in Brussels on Thursday to discuss how global rules should be shaped to address risks tied to new artificial intelligence models, according to Politico, which cited two EU diplomats and a draft agenda. The report said the European Commission will use a meeting of the AI Board to brief member-state representatives on the latest developments in EU and international AI policy. It is also expected to deliver a technical briefing on recent AI-related incidents. The AI Board is made up of representatives from EU member states and meets regularly to monitor implementation of the EU AI Act. One diplomat told Politico that the broader discussion on international coordination will center on work already under way in the Group of Seven, the Group of 20, and the United Nations.
