bitcoin++ sets Antarctica "Cold Storage Edition" for January 2028
bitcoin++ has announced an Antarctica-themed edition of its Bitcoin technical conference series, scheduled for Jan. 24 to Feb. 5, 2028, with only 22 spots available. The event combines a technical gathering with a polar expedition, drawing on the idea of Bitcoin "cold storage," or keeping private keys offline, and taking that theme into a much colder setting. Participants will depart from Ushuaia, Argentina, cross the Drake Passage, travel to the Antarctic Peninsula and return on a 13-day, 12-night itinerary. Possible stops include Neko Harbour, Paradise Bay, Port Lockroy and the Lemaire Channel, though actual landings will depend on weather, ice conditions and expedition decisions. Activities may include kayaking, camping, hiking, snowshoeing and Zodiac landings. The conference will use an unconference format, with attendees proposing talks, demos and discussions. The ship will have Starlink connectivity and separate rooms for pop-up hackathons and workshops. Booking is now open. Prices are $14,900 for a four-person cabin and $16,700 for a double cabin, with either five equal installments or full payment at signup. Full payment in Bitcoin receives a 5% discount. The fare includes a cold-weather jacket, while medical, evacuation and repatriation insurance must be purchased separately.
