Singapore’s GovTech launches FirstDate dating pilot for single public officers aged 21 to 35

Singapore’s Government Technology Agency, GovTech, has launched an official dating website called FirstDate, opening the pilot on Sept. 29 to single public officers in Singapore aged 21 to 35. Registration runs until Oct. 5 at 11:59 p.m., and users must log in with the national digital identity system Singpass. The platform does not use swipe-based matching. Instead, after completing a questionnaire, each participant is matched with only one person per round, along with a compatibility score, profile summary and a short message. If both sides accept within 72 hours, the system then shares their phone numbers, email addresses and Telegram accounts. The report says the pilot arrives as Singapore’s fertility rate hits a new low. The government’s Population in Brief 2026 showed the resident total fertility rate at 0.87 in 2025, down from 0.97 in 2024 and 1.24 in 2015. The same brief also said the share of single Singapore citizens rose between 2015 and 2025, with the biggest increases seen among those aged 25 to 29 and 30 to 34.
