Pantera partner says AI agents could remake SaaS buying and crypto payments
Paul Veradittakit, managing partner at Pantera Capital, argues that enterprise software is moving into a new phase in which software no longer serves only as a productivity tool for human workers, but increasingly acts as the buyer itself. In the piece, translated and published by TechFlow, he says decades of software sales, pricing and procurement systems were built around human decision-making, from sales teams and approval workflows to graphical dashboards and card-based payments. That setup, he argues, starts to break down once autonomous AI agents begin handling more of the work. The article says AI-driven procurement would favor fast, reliable machine interfaces over human-facing UI, and shift software monetization away from seat-based monthly subscriptions toward granular charging based on API calls, compute usage or business outcomes. Veradittakit also points to crypto-native rails such as verifiable onchain wallets, micropayment streaming and decentralized identity credentials as key infrastructure for a machine-to-machine economy. Using Fission as an example, he describes a decentralized network where AI agents can post requests, provide services and settle payments instantly without relying on banking hours or traditional cross-border payment systems. He closes with advice for founders to rethink pricing, improve machine readability and keep close watch on cryptographic infrastructure.
