India’s Enforcement Directorate raids virtual asset OTC fraud case, seizes 8,700 USDT

India’s Enforcement Directorate, through its Bengaluru zonal office, carried out search operations on July 18 and 19 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with a virtual asset over-the-counter fraud case targeting overseas investors. According to ChainCatcher, the group allegedly used private social channels to claim it could supply tokens including MultiversX, Kava, BEAM, GRASS, SUI, VANA and AGLD at discounted prices, drawing foreign investors into sending funds. The total amount tied to the case was reported at about $35 million, and the matter was initially registered following a complaint from a Dutch entity. During the operation, authorities seized electronic devices, wallet-related records and crypto assets worth 8,700 USDT. The agency said the investigation is still expanding as officials work to uncover the full criminal chain.

July 15 market and policy roundup: SK Hynix jumps 22%, Waller says inflation fight is not done

Crypto market leaders and macro headlines moved together in the latest 24-hour cycle. On centralized exchanges, BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and BNB all posted gains, while ZEC stood out by appearing both in the top trading-volume cohort and near the top of the gainers list. OKX data showed KAITO leading the 24-hour gainers table, while GMGN’s meme rankings featured SJM, BWO, WSB, SMELL and GRBG. Outside crypto, MSX.COM data showed SK Hynix rising 22% to $185.9 per share, setting a record high since listing and lifting its market capitalization to $1.36 trillion. Federal Reserve Chair Waller said the latest CPI report does not mean the job is finished, even as June CPI eased to 3.5% year over year from 4.2% in May. He also said the Fed remains committed to a 2% inflation target and will revisit its 2020 policy framework. Other developments included IBM’s 25% single-day drop, Iran’s statement that the U.S. had entered a formal state of war, a suspected hack of Noxa Fi’s X account, and fresh funding announcements involving Brinc, Flex, Velocity and Nous Research.
