Hyperliquid to cut funding-rate cap in next network upgrade and raise HIP-4 deployment limits

Hyperliquid said it will lower its funding-rate cap from 4% per hour to 0.5% in its next network upgrade, according to an announcement cited by BlockBeats on Sept. 27. Hyperliquid open interest hits a fresh record at $16.36 billion one year after prior peak

Hyperliquid’s open interest climbed to a new all-time high of $16.36 billion on Sept. 19, topping the previous record set on Sept. 18, 2025, exactly one year earlier. The update reflects how the platform has broadened over the past year from a crypto perpetuals venue into on-chain trading infrastructure that can support equities, commodities, indexes, pre-IPO contracts and event-based products. A key part of that expansion came from HIP-3, launched in October 2025, which lets third parties stake HYPE and deploy their own perpetual markets. Those markets now cover U.S. stocks, gold, crude oil, the S&P 500 and private companies such as SpaceX. As of early September 2026, cumulative HIP-3 trading volume had exceeded $548 billion, accounting for roughly 30% of the platform’s volume over the past 30 days. Hyperliquid also rolled out HIP-4 in May 2026 to add prediction markets and event contracts, then opened deployment to third parties in late August. Over the same period, 21Shares, Bitwise and Grayscale launched spot or staked HYPE ETFs, while Hyperliquid added native lending and continued work on a permissioned HIP-3 market for U.S. users.

Trade.xyz launches Events on Hyperliquid as fee structure draws comparisons with Polymarket

Trade.xyz has formally rolled out its prediction market product, Events, on the Hyperliquid mainnet, making it the third HIP-4 prediction market project in the ecosystem after Outcome.xyz and Skew Markets. The launch came after an initial quiet period in which 34 markets had already gone live through the platform’s “Predict” page, covering finance, sports and other categories. In its first week, the product recorded $180,000 in total trading volume and 263 users. The bigger point of comparison is fees. Events uses Hyperliquid’s Outcome Trading fee model, with a base rate of 0.07% for takers and 0.04% for makers, and lower tiers available based on 14-day weighted trading volume. Users who stake HYPE can receive discounts of as much as 40%. Polymarket uses a different model: maker orders are free and receive rebates of 15% to 25%, while taker fees vary by market category and are calculated dynamically using C × feeRate × p × (1-p). That difference means costs can diverge sharply depending on the market and the probability level. For active taker trading around 50/50 outcomes, Trade.xyz can be much cheaper. For maker activity, geopolitics markets, or events that have already moved close to 0% or 100%, Polymarket may offer lower effective costs. Even so, Trade.xyz remains far smaller in scale and is still at an early stage compared with Polymarket.

Trade.XYZ launches prediction markets page with 26 live contracts across three sections

Trade.XYZ has quietly added a prediction markets trading page to its official website, according to data shown on the platform as of Sept. 7. The page currently lists 26 markets grouped under three sections: finance, sports and others. The launch follows an earlier deployment by Trade.XYZ on Hyperliquid, where the project had already rolled out its HIP-4 DEX on Sept. 5. Trading records show that deployment was completed at 21:15 Beijing time on Sept. 5. Hyperliquid’s HIP-4 is built for outcome and prediction markets rather than perpetuals. The framework is designed for event-based contracts with binary or multi-outcome structures, and settlement resolves to 0 or 1 without leveraged liquidation mechanics. That setup differs from Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 perpetuals model.
