Uniswap’s StablePair Hook Targets Curve’s Grip on Stablecoin Trading
Uniswap Labs launched StablePair Hook on Sept. 10 as the third official hook for Uniswap v4 and the first one with upgradeable dynamic fees. The product debuted on Ethereum mainnet in the USDC/USDG and USDC/USDT pools, replacing fixed fees with a pricing function that changes in real time as pool prices move away from a reference price. The move is aimed at one of the oldest problems in stablecoin AMMs: how arbitrage value is split. In conventional pools, liquidity providers often absorb the cost of price rebalancing while arbitrage bots capture most of the spread. StablePair Hook introduces a three-mode fee design, including a Dutch auction mechanism for trades that bring prices back toward equilibrium, with the goal of keeping more of that value inside the pool. The article argues that this is not an isolated product release. Together with DualPool Hook and Permissioned Pools Hook, Uniswap v4 is being positioned as a broader on-chain market-making stack for stablecoin issuers and institutional liquidity providers. That strategy also puts it in more direct competition with Curve, whose stablecoin dominance has long rested on low-slippage StableSwap math and incentive-driven liquidity.
