Crypto week ahead: U.S. payrolls, Revolut’s USDT delisting, and multiple service shutdowns

The coming week brings a dense slate of macro, regulatory, and project-specific events for the crypto market. The U.S. will release August unemployment and nonfarm payrolls data on Sept. 4, the last payrolls report before the Sept. 15-16 Federal Open Market Committee meeting. Revolut has confirmed that it will delist USDT on Aug. 31, citing regulatory and risk-compliance considerations, after already stopping purchases and suspending deposits earlier in the process. A wave of project shutdowns and service closures is also scheduled, including HyENA, Printr, Vision, Summer.fi, NFTfi, TON bridge-v3, Cosmostation Wallet, and Cypher. Several token unlocks are on the calendar as well, including SUI, EIGEN, ENA, OPN, and HYPE. Other items to watch include the G20 technology ministers’ meeting in North Carolina, Vietnam’s new crypto penalty rules taking effect, the launch of Russia’s digital ruble, a proposed Secret Network migration to Arbitrum, Binance’s planned delisting of ICX, SCRT, and STORJ, and Pakistan’s deadline for virtual asset service providers to file licensing applications.

HyENA to wind down all markets, says it has no token issuance plan

HyENA said it will gradually shut down all of its markets and end operations, while stressing that it does not have a token and has no plan to issue one. Built by the Based team on Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 standard and backed by Ethena’s USDe, the project was designed to let traders earn yield on idle margin used for perpetual futures trading and return revenue that would otherwise go to issuers back to the community. Since launch, HyENA said it has processed more than $4 billion in volume, served over 12,000 traders, and generated nearly 2.5 million USDe in rewards on users’ USDe margin. The team said market conditions on Hyperliquid have changed as the platform has moved into closer strategic alignment with USDC, altering the competitive setup that once included USDT, USDe, and USDH. HyENA said that made continued expansion of USDe-backed margin on the platform less viable. The project added that user funds are not at risk. Markets will be delisted one by one from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2, with one market closing each hour, and positions will be settled automatically.

HyENA Shuts Down All Markets, Says User Funds Safe

HyENA, a perpetuals platform built on Hyperliquid, has announced that it will cease operations and close all markets, with the team emphasizing that user funds remain safe. The project was constructed on Hyperliquid's HIP-3 standard and Ethena's USDe, enabling traders to earn yield while using USDe as margin for perpetual contracts. Before the shutdown, HyENA recorded over $4 billion in cumulative trading volume, served more than 12,000 traders and paid out nearly 2.5 million USDe in rewards. The team cited Hyperliquid's deeper alignment with USDC as the reason behind the decision, saying the scope for USDe-backed margin on the platform had changed. All markets will be delisted between Aug. 31 and Sep. 2, one per hour; positions will be auto-settled at the final mark price and margin returned to spot balances. HLPe deposits remain claimable at 1:1 with accumulated rewards via Upshift. The final reward payout date is Aug. 27, and the last affiliate commission payment is set for Sep. 9. The Ethena exchange rewards program ended in June 2026; HyENA points are final, with no snapshot, conversion or distribution, and they carry no monetary value. The team reiterated that HyENA has no token and no plans to issue one.

HyENA Shuts Down USDe-Margined Perpetuals Platform, Markets to Go Offline by Sept. 2

HyENA, a perpetual futures trading platform built on Hyperliquid's HIP-3 standard and backed by Ethena's USDe as margin, has announced its closure. The team cited Hyperliquid's deepening integration with USDC as the reason the role of USDe-backed margin on the platform has changed. User funds remain unaffected. Markets will be delisted one by one hourly from August 31 to September 2, with positions auto-settled at the mark price at the time each market goes offline. HLPe deposits are redeemable 1:1 anytime via Upshift, subject to a one-day redemption period. HyENA Points will not be snapshotted or converted into tokens, and no token issuance is planned.
