Africa's Chipper Cash Adopts Lightning at Scale: 50% of Bitcoin Transactions Now Instant and Low-Cost
Chipper Cash, one of Africa's leading fintech companies, announced that over 50% of its Bitcoin transactions now run over the Lightning Network, marking one of the most significant real-world deployments of Lightning. Through infrastructure partner Voltage, Chipper Cash delivers faster, cheaper, and more reliable payments across Africa. The organic adoption via word-of-mouth and interoperability with Strike, Cash App, and other platforms has expanded its global reach. Recently launched Chessa enables instant settlement into over 25 local fiat currencies via crypto rails, with Lightning at its core. This achievement demonstrates how emerging markets can leapfrog outdated financial systems and embrace next-generation payment rails.
