Coinbase to Automatically Convert Users’ Old KITE Tokens to New Version

Coinbase said it will automatically convert users’ old KITE holdings into the newly issued token after the KITE project team halted token transfers on Ethereum on Aug. 5 and launched a replacement asset. According to the exchange’s notice, users do not need to take any manual steps to complete the migration. Coinbase said the transition will be handled directly on the platform. The exchange also noted that the new KITE token is already available for trading, deposits, and withdrawals on Coinbase. The update follows the project team’s decision to stop transfers of the previous Ethereum-based token and issue a new token instead.

Bitcoin Falls Back Below $64K After Warsh Rejects Any "Soft" Inflation Goal

Bitcoin briefly climbed above $64,400 after the Federal Reserve left its benchmark rate unchanged at 3.50%-3.75% on Wednesday, then surrendered the move when Fed Chair Kevin Warsh opened his press conference with a blunt line: "There is no soft inflation target." By press time, BTC was trading just under $64,000, still up about 1% over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. The market response suggested crypto traders were reacting less to the hold itself and more to Warsh’s inflation stance. The decision also came with an uncommon split inside the Federal Open Market Committee, with Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari, and Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan dissenting in favor of a 25 basis point hike. CME FedWatch had put the odds of a hike at roughly 35% before the meeting. Elsewhere in crypto, Ethereum held near $1,900 and XRP traded around $1.06, while total market capitalization rose to about $2.29 trillion. KAITO led gains among top-300 tokens, while DeXe and Lorenzo Protocol’s BANK posted sharp declines.

BitMEX said it will shut down on Sept. 23, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. Beijing time after halting new user registrations immediately, with new positions to be restricted from Aug. 26 and remaining positions forcibly closed after the deadline. In China, regulators in Shenzhen said a group of self-media accounts that promoted virtual currency-related business activities to domestic users had been permanently shut down under existing policy rules. The day’s roundup also included fresh market data, with BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and DOGE all down over the past 24 hours, while tokens such as RE, VELO and WLFI led gainers on OKX data. Macro attention centered on U.S. initial jobless claims, which came in at 187,000 for the week ended July 18, below the 212,000 expectation and marking the lowest reading since the week of Sept. 24, 2022. Elsewhere, the European Union announced sanctions covering more than 100 banks and crypto operators, Argentina moved toward allowing mutual funds to invest in bitcoin and crypto, Grayscale’s Worldcoin ETF filing disclosed concentration and governance details around WLD, and several funding deals and industry statements added to the day’s developments.
