Google has released the 1.0 version of its Kotlin generative AI SDK, designed to enhance mobile AI integration. The toolkit supports on-device generative AI, improving development efficiency and strengthening privacy protection.
Google has canceled the iOS and Android versions of its AI Studio app, despite roughly 800,000 users having already pre-registered across both platforms, according to the company’s official AI Studio account on July 31. The app’s store listings were removed at the same time. Google said it no longer wants users to download another standalone app and will instead work with the Gemini team to bring app-generation features directly into everyday Gemini conversations on both mobile and desktop. The company did not provide a launch date for that integration. The move comes just 73 days after Google introduced the app at Google I/O 2026 on May 19, where it pitched a workflow that let users capture an idea on the go and continue building on desktop, including editing code, previewing results, and deploying projects from a phone. Google said AI Studio’s core capabilities will remain available on the web version, including native Android app generation, Kotlin code output, a built-in Android emulator in the browser, and ADB-based installation to phones over USB. The report also noted Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently said Copilot will become a “super app” later this year, folding chat, coding, and agents into a single entry point.
Anthropic is acquiring SDK generation company Stainless for about $300 million. The startup has worked with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and others. Existing customers keep rights to generated SDKs, but new Stainless business will stop.
A major NPM developer, qix, had their account compromised and used to push malware that searches for bitcoin and cryptocurrency wallets on users' devices. When detected, the malware patches the transaction signing functions and replaces the destination address with the attacker's address. The attack primarily affects web wallet users, especially those in the Ordinals/Runes ecosystem. Hardware wallet users should verify addresses on the device, while software key users should avoid transactions until official fixes are announced. This incident highlights the growing risk of supply chain attacks in the crypto space.
