Aave proposal would cut V3 and V4 borrowing limits, removing about $3.8 billion in unused capacity

Aave may sharply reduce unused borrowing headroom across parts of its lending system after a proposal from risk service provider LlamaRisk. According to the Aave governance forum, the proposal calls for lower borrow caps on 27 reserves in Aave V3 and lower draw caps on six credit lines in Aave V4. The new limits would be set at roughly 1.02x pre-attack borrowing levels. The move follows Aave’s earlier decision to freeze V3 and V4 reserves after the Oct. 29 Binance hot wallet incident. If implemented, the changes would remove about $3.7 billion in unused capacity from V3 and another $130 million from V4. In one example cited for V3 Core, the WETH borrow cap would be reduced from 2.4 million tokens to 1.79 million, while USDT and USDC caps would be lowered to 2.56 billion and 2.27 billion respectively. LlamaRisk said the attacker still holds large amounts of ETH, stablecoins and governance tokens, creating the risk of quickly building large positions once markets are unfrozen. The proposed cap changes would be executed through the Risk Steward process before reserves are unfrozen in stages. GHO reserves are not included in this round of adjustments.

LlamaRisk proposes lower Aave borrowing caps before markets reopen

LlamaRisk has proposed cutting borrowing caps on Aave ahead of a market reopening, while the protocol’s existing freeze continues to block new loans. Under the plan, about $3.7 billion in unused borrowing capacity would be removed from Aave V3, along with roughly $130 million on V4. The proposal focuses on trimming unused headroom rather than reopening lending activity, as fresh borrowing remains unavailable under the current restrictions. The report is tied to Aave, borrowing and lending, and liquidity, according to the source material from The Defiant. No additional details on timing beyond the pre-reopen framing were provided in the source summary.

Aave freezes most markets after Binance Ethereum hot wallet attack, plans phased reopening

Aave has frozen most of its markets after the attack on Binance’s Ethereum hot wallet, according to a post by LlamaRisk on the governance forum. LlamaRisk said it worked with Aave Labs and other parties to have the guardian freeze markets across the protocol. The move covers 175 reserves on Aave V3 across 16 networks, as well as 117 reserves tied to four spoke categories in Aave V4. Aave said it will keep watching the attacker’s wallet activity and oracle feeds. Once fund movements stop, the protocol plans to coordinate with relevant parties and begin lifting the freeze in stages. The update did not provide a timetable for the reopening process.

Aave lowers USDT rate kink to 92% in Ethereum Core market

Aave has implemented a USDT interest rate parameter change in its Ethereum Core market at block 26,241,799, lowering the utilization kink from 94% to 92%. The change makes borrowing costs rise earlier when pool liquidity tightens. Under the new setup, the optimal usage ratio is 92%, the base rate is 0, slope one is 4.5%, and slope two is 10%. The kink rate is 4.5% APR, while the borrowing rate reaches 14.5% APR at 100% utilization. At 94% utilization, the old curve implied a 4.5% APR, while the new curve implies 7%, a difference of 2.5 percentage points. LlamaRisk recommended the adjustment on Oct. 20. Based on a USDT supply of 2.8922 billion, a 92% utilization level leaves about 57.84 million more USDT unborrowed as buffer than a 94% level. Aave also noted that this buffer does not represent actual cash, and withdrawals still depend on available unborrowed liquidity. A snapshot taken on Oct. 23 showed about 391.4 million USDT in actual cash in the pool, with variable borrow APR at about 4.23% and supply liquidity APR at 3.29%.

Aave lowers USDT rate kink to 92% in Ethereum Core market

Aave has implemented a USDT interest rate parameter change in its Ethereum Core market at block 26,241,799, lowering the utilization kink from 94% to 92%. The move makes borrowing costs rise earlier when pool liquidity tightens. Under the updated model, the optimal usage ratio is 92%, the base rate is 0, slope one is 4.5%, and slope two is 10%. The kink rate is set at 4.5% APR, while the borrowing rate reaches 14.5% APR at 100% utilization. At 94% utilization, the old curve produced a 4.5% APR borrowing rate, compared with 7% APR under the new curve, a difference of 2.5 percentage points. ChainCatcher also reported that LlamaRisk proposed the adjustment on Oct. 20. LlamaRisk suggests 55% collateral factor for SpaceX share proposal on Aave

LlamaRisk has outlined risk parameters for an Aave proposal involving SpaceX shares as collateral. The firm recommended a 55% collateral factor and a cap of 37,000 tokens tied to the proposal. It also said that handling larger liquidations would depend on either redemptions or derivatives hedges. The proposal puts the focus on how private-market equity exposure could be managed within a DeFi lending framework. TheDefiant identified the development in a report published on Oct. 21, 2026.

Aave enables LlamaRisk agent for Pendle collateral on Plasma

Aave has enabled a LlamaRisk agent for Pendle collateral on the Plasma network, according to a ChainCatcher report citing The Defiant. The agent can adjust pricing and borrowing parameters for a principal token with a current supply of $36.72 million. Those parameter changes are subject to fixed step-size limits and cooldown periods. Plasma is a Layer 1 network focused on stablecoin payments, Pendle is a yield-trading protocol, and LlamaRisk is a crypto risk management firm. The update centers on how collateral settings can be managed within Aave on Plasma, with the reported controls designed to constrain how quickly parameters can change.

Coinbase tokenized stocks go live on Aave V4’s Base deployment as collateral

Coinbase’s tokenized stocks are now available on the Base deployment of Aave V4, allowing eligible users in non-U.S. jurisdictions to post selected equity tokens as collateral and borrow USDC. The list of supported assets includes AAPLc, AMZNc, GOOGLc, METAc, MSFTc, NVDAc, and TSLAc. The Aave V4 instance was deployed by Aave Labs on behalf of Aave DAO, while risk analysis for the setup was completed by LlamaRisk. Chainlink, serving as Coinbase’s official oracle solution, supplies pricing data for the tokenized stocks, including both the underlying share price and the issuer multiplier. The update connects Coinbase’s tokenized equity products with Aave’s lending infrastructure on Base and sets out the framework under which these assets can be used inside the protocol.
