BTC slips below key support as AI stock selloff deepens pressure across crypto and U.S. futures

Bitcoin fell to around $62,700 on July 17, breaking below the $63,000-$64,000 support zone that many traders had been watching, while order-book data showed sell pressure near $65,000 and buying interest around $61,000-$62,000. PANews, citing BIT U.S. Stocks, Greeks.live, Coinglass and several market participants, said $1.2 billion in BTC options were set to expire with a max pain level at $63,000. Trader Killa also flagged a recurring pattern in which Bitcoin has often posted at least a 5% pullback after the 14th of the month, with 11 of the past 12 instances showing roughly that scale of decline. The report tied weakness in crypto to a broader retreat in risk assets, especially after losses in AI, semiconductor and memory shares weighed on sentiment. Nasdaq futures fell as much as 1.61% in Asian trading, while crypto-related U.S. stocks and mining names also moved lower. Ethereum held up better than Bitcoin, returning to a $1,750-$1,900 range, though traders remained divided over whether it could extend toward $2,000-$2,100 or slip back toward $1,600-$1,650. The report also highlighted ETF flow data, token unlock schedules, and upcoming AI events in Shanghai and San Francisco as near-term points to watch.

1Password rolls out zero-exposure login access for Claude agents

1Password has launched 1Password for Claude, a new access model built for AI agents that lets Claude use login credentials without ever seeing the underlying password or one-time code. The system injects credentials directly into a webpage only during an approved task, while 1Password remains the sole holder of the secret itself. Users must approve each use with biometric authentication such as Touch ID, and any filled content is cleared if submission fails before control returns to the agent. The company also introduced Agentic Mode inside its browser extension to deal with a separate risk: an AI agent that has control of the browser. In that state, the extension interface is automatically hidden and locked, and the agent can access only the credentials explicitly approved for the current task. The feature currently supports Mac only and requires the 1Password desktop app, browser extension version 8.12.28 or later, Claude Desktop, and Claude in Chrome. For now, support is limited to login items with usernames, passwords, and one-time codes, while passkeys, social logins, payment cards, and identity data are not yet available.
