Numerai says it bought another $1.2 million in NMR, bringing 12-month total to $3.2 million
Decentralized hedge fund Numerai said it has completed its third strategic purchase of NMR, acquiring an additional $1.2 million worth of the token on the open market. The latest buy lifts Numerai’s cumulative NMR repurchases over the past year to $3.2 million. The firm said the repurchase is intended to support its staking system, where independent data scientists stake NMR on models and are rewarded with additional NMR if those models perform well on future market predictions, while poor performance leads to a loss of staked tokens. Numerai also said that since announcing its first strategic buyback in July 2025, the number of active accounts has more than doubled. Over the same period, it launched several pieces of infrastructure, including Numerai Skills, Numerai Model Context Protocol, and Atomic Blockchain Staking. The firm currently manages about $700 million in assets, up from roughly $560 million at the end of 2025. According to Numerai, Numeraire is a fixed-supply Ethereum token with a maximum supply of 11 million NMR, and the latest repurchase was executed over several weeks on the open market through Coinbase Institutional.
