The setup is aimed at users who want to keep an AI coding workflow running on a home machine and still access it remotely from a phone without configuring a public IP address or router port forwarding. The product is described as similar to Tailscale Funnel in that it can publish local services to the public internet without requiring visitors to join a private network. OpenTunnel also supports end-to-end encryption, with traffic decrypted only after it reaches the local machine, which means relay servers cannot read the contents of normal communications. OpenTunnel also comes with an SDK so developers can add public access features directly into their own apps. OpenCode has already integrated the tool and plans to roll out remote pairing in its production release on Oct. 9. At that point, users will be able to connect to OpenCode running on a computer from a phone or other device through a one-time link or QR code. The announcement also notes that a public link is not the same as a private connection, and sensitive services still need authentication.20
